Family and hotel history

since 1989

Franz, Roland and Elisabeth are the second generation to run the hotel business in Zavelstein.

The history of the "Höhengasthof Lamm" goes back over 300 years and the Lamm has always been an institution in Zavelstein. Even Hermann Hesse liked to take a short hike from Calw to Zavelstein for the crocus blossom. We are quite sure that he also stopped here and enjoyed the unique view over the Teinach valley.

2023

In January 2023, the hotel's own day care centre will open for our 7 "Mini-Berliners" and the children of our staff.
In addition, the carpeting in 15 rooms will be replaced with real wood parquet flooring this year. In the main building Hotel Lamm, all rooms are now equipped without carpeting. Our "Katharinenplaisire" will also receive a new modern design.

19th October 2022

Vanessa and Roland Berlin become parents for the 4th time. Frieder Berlin is born.

1st Mai 2022

The 5th child of the 3rd generation, Ronja Röber, daughter of Elisabeth Röber-Berlin and Daniel Röber, is born.

6th Mai 2022

Henri Berlin, second child of Sabrina and Franz, sees the light of day.

Mai 2021

After another lockdown that lasted almost seven months, hotels are allowed to reopen. The Berlin family and all employees are finally allowed to pursue their passion again.

4th September 2020

"All good things come in threes" - on 4 September 2020, Roland and Vanessa Berlin's third son, Lorenz Berlin, sees the light of day, safe and sound.

June 2020

Happy wedding of daughter Elisabeth Röber-Berlin and son-in-law Daniel Röber. Our first big celebration (albeit with Corona requirements) at our Theurerhof in Speßhardt - an unforgettable day! 

April 2020

The deluxe double rooms Katharinenplaisir and our Jungbrunnensuite will receive a new coat of paint and a wooden design floor, the pool deck will be clad with new wooden beams and the königSPA outdoor area will be equipped with new wellness loungers, tables and chairs.

2020

The Corona pandemic has reached Germany and brought numerous restrictions to all our lives: Unimaginable for us - we had to close our entire hotel for several weeks both in spring and at the end of the year. Big thanks to our sorely missed guests for new bookings, voucher purchases, food orders and especially for the kind words and thoughts that reached us during this difficult time.

Our Easter highlight: opening of the high-seat sauna with spectacular views over the Teinach valley.

31st October 2017

Clemens Berlin, second son of Roland and Vanessa Berlin, is born healthy.

June 2017

Renovation of a total of 10 rooms in the parent hotel Hotel Krone. These rooms will now be known as Marktbrunnen superior and Burgblick superior.

6th March 2016

Oscar Berlin, son of Roland and Vanessa Berlin, is born. The little progenitor is 45 cm long and 2200 g light. Thanks to his big appetite, he makes up for the missing pounds very quickly.

January 2016

Fundamental renovation of the sauna area and new construction of the "Panorama-Softsauna". Renovation of 7 rooms of the category valley view to modern comfort double rooms pool view.

31st Mai 2015

At 6.44 am, the first offspring of the 3rd generation, the child of Franz Berlin and his girlfriend Sabrina, sees the light of day. The little princess Johanna Amalie was 46 cm long at birth, weighed 2860 g and was healthy all round!

2015

Purchasing of an old farm ensemble dating back to 1620, the "Theurerhof" in Calw-Spesshardt. This special piece of history is lovingly restored in the following years by senior chef Rolf Berlin and is already a popular destination for our house guests.

2014

Extension in front of the Hotel Lamm around the two-storey bar & lounge "Berliner Platz", reception, administration area and covered hotel driveway.

2013

Construction of the brine inhalation chamber with graduation house as well as a covered sunbathing area. Renovation of the rooms in the Hotel Krone.

2012

Opening of the heated outdoor swimming pool (14 x 6 metres).

2011

In an 8-month construction period, the slope at the Hotel Lamm was excavated to offer plenty of space for relaxation spread over 6 floors: Expansion of the königSPA to 1600 m² with orangery, wellness lounge, 10 new treatment cabins and fitness room. In addition, construction of 10 deluxe double rooms and 4 suites.

2009-2010

Sons Franz and Roland Berlin return to the parental business. Daughter Elisabeth Röber-Berlin has been back in the business since 2011.

2008

Extension of the relaxation room "Room of Silence", the "Sun Room", 4 new treatment cabins as well as SPA reception, the conference room "Small Market Place" as well as 6 double rooms and the Fountain of Youth Suite.

2005

Renewed lease of the "Wanderheim in Zavelstein".

The Berlin family started their self-employment here from 1989-1994.

2004-2007

Constant expansion, renovation, restructuring and improvement in all areas of the hotels and restaurants.

2003

2000-2002

Renovation of the restaurants, extension of the terrace, construction of a conference room and addition of 5 beautiful double rooms to the roof.
After a conflagration almost completely destroyed our beloved Lamm, it was able to reopen at Christmas 2003 after a very short planning and construction period.

The Hotel Lamm has 27 rooms, the restaurants "Schwarzwaldgarten" and "Festtagstube", conference room "Graf Eberhard", a small bar and reception as well as the wellness area "Kingdom of the Senses".

1999

Purchase of the "Höhengasthof Lamm auf dem Zavelstein" and foundation of the "Hotel Berlins KroneLamm".

1997

Extension of the Krone around the Kaminzimmer and 11 double rooms (today Marktbrunnen and Burgblick).

1995

Extension of 7 double rooms (today Marktbrunnen and Burgblick).

1994

Gudrun and Rolf Berlin lay the foundation for today's Berlins KroneLamm with the purchase of the Krone as a restaurant with around 60 seats.

1989

Rolf and Gudrun Berlin take the plunge into independence.
Despite three small children, they lease the Wanderheim Zavelstein and thus lay the foundation for our company history.
